Event planning
If you organise an event, you must prioritise safety. Careful planning will help you deliver a safe event.
Event management planning
An effective event management plan will help you respond to any incidents or emergencies that could happen at your event.
Your plan should include:
- Risk assessments - identifying the different hazards and the precautions you need to take
- Crowd planning
- Stewarding and security
- Weather contingencies
- Traffic management
- Emergency procedures
- Insurance details
- Key contacts
You can get templates for event safety management plans and risk assessments from your local Safety Advisory Group.
Safety Advisory Groups
Tell your local Safety Advisory Group (SAG) if you're planning a major event. For example, an event that will involve:
- Over 500 people,
- Road closures,
- High-risk activities (like fairground rides), or
- Potentially excessive noise
The SAG will help you plan and manage your event so it is in run safely and legally, with minimal disruption to the local community.
